Greetings from the Adriatic Sea! No, this is not your regularly-scheduled Blogging Basics programming. But that’s because (a) I couldn’t come up with a Blogging Basics topic for today, (b) I was supposed to post this on Monday but I got lazy, and (c) y’all have been requesting this post like crazy this week. So here you go.
I’ve received soooo many emails and DMs asking me to write a guide on how to dress for a long plane ride. Apparently y’all are as boggled by international flight attire / overnight flight attire as I am.
Before we dive in: as always, wear what you want. If wearing a dress makes you happy, do it. I wore a maxi dress on last May’s flight to Seoul and, upon arrival, I decided it was the greatest decision I’d made. Like ever. Even though all my friends thought I was crazy (and I looked slightly absurd with my compression socks and oversized sweater). But it made me happy and it worked.
In this post, I’m sharing my go-to look in the hopes it helps you figure out how to dress for a long plane ride. Not all of the possibilities. Just my go-to. Which just so happens to be the exact look I wore on Friday to fly to Milan.
One. Million. Monthly. Viewers. Y’all. That’s a biiiiiigggg number.
So, while I was too sick to get Monday’s post launched on time (it’s now going up on Friday instead so get excited!), I definitely couldn’t slack on launching this blogging basics post detailing my Pinterest growth strategy today.
Before we dive in on my Pinterest growth strategy, let’s set the stage. In the fall of 2016, I developed and began to implement a Pinterest growth strategy. At the time, I had around 1,000 followers on Pinterest, most of whom had followed me through giveaways. My average monthly views hovered around 10,000 and about 75% of my pins were re-pinned at least once (but rarely were they re-pinned more than once).
Now, a year and a half later, I have nearly 6,000 Pinterest followers and over 1,000,000 monthly viewers. 100% of my pins have generated at least one repin, and the average number of repins per pin is 6.6 (this is also known as the virality score). Some of my boards, like this one, perform as high as 37.4 repins per pin. In case all of those numbers are confusing you, here’s the takeaway: that’s a massive increase.
OMG it’s been soooo long, y’all!!! Between the move, finals, throwing a bridal shower in Austin, preparing for graduation, and getting ready for my big trip in June, I’ve been all over the place mentally. And have given precisely 0 thought to the blog. And all of the thought to how to make my house as organized as The Container Store. But now I’m back so we can all act like the past month or so just never happened. Jedi mind trick that sh*t.
So yeah: I’m back. Just in time for a big Blogging Basics post. And it’s one y’all have been requesting for a long time: the best cameras for fashion bloggers to buy. Cue the excitement.
Thank y’all so much for all of the thoughtful messages and kind wishes about my new house! I spent the majority of last week packing up my life before Thursday’s move… and, since then, I’ve been playing a real-life version of minesweeper with all of the boxes in my house. It’s a bit hectic around here, but it will all be worth it once I’m finally settled!!
Which brings me to this post. Today, I’m featuring something y’all have been requesting for a long time. And I mean a long long time.
My apartment tour. Or rather, my über feminine apartment tour. And to do it right, I’ve teamed up with the folks at Greenleaf.
Really, for the full effect, I wish I could encode the smells of each room into this blog post. But y’all are just gonna have to trust me when I say my apartment smelled like flowers, deliciousness, and friggin heaven. These candles would make such a great Mother’s Day present to the lucky mamas in your life… and one lucky reader (or her mama!) will be receiving the whole set as a gift from Greenleaf!
I bought a house!! SURPRISE! It’s been killing me keeping this from y’all, but I bought a house! I closed on the house last Wednesday (happy birthday to me!), and I’ll be moving in later this week. On Thursday, in fact. And I could not be more excited.
I wanted to share the “before” of the house with y’all so you can see it without all my stuff in it. Keep reading for all of the photos and more about my home-buying process!
